Europe’s leading Internet conference in Berlin for the first time
next10 on May 11 and 12 with over 100 international speakers and 40 hours of events / Mobile applications are Game Changers in the digital corporate world
This two-day trend and network event will bring creatives and technologists from the Internet, media and communications industries together with decision-makers from established companies and start-ups.
“The new location – both the city of Berlin itself and STATION-Berlin – will give the next conference even greater international appeal and enable it to strengthen its position as the leading conference for the digital and creative economy in Europe,” explained Almuth Nehring-Venus, State Secretary for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues in the Berlin Senate, which is supporting next10.
“Over the course of five years, the next conference has become the most important European conference for the digital and creative economy,” said Matthias Schrader, founder and CEO of interactive agency SinnerSchrader. “We are coming to Berlin to take the next step in our development, and we’ve found the right partner in STATION-Berlin, the organiser of the international PREMIUM fashion fair.”
“Berlin was the right choice for us as well,” declared Norbert Tillmann, managing director of STATION-Berlin, which organises the PREMIUM fashion fair, among other events. According to Anita Tillman, also managing director of STATION-Berlin, “the next conference itself is a game changer in that it brings together the right people from around the world.”
Mobile applications are the decisive “Game Changers” in the digital corporate world. The question of how companies will interact with consumers on mobile devices in the future will influence business models as much as the Internet has. “The app store ecosystem has positively exploded in recent months. The market for mobile apps is predicted to become as big as the Internet is right now, and this will certainly affect the economy and the lifestyle of consumers,” Matthias Schrader said.
The booming App Economy is the focus of the second day of the conference on 12 May, which features an entire track with 25 presentations. Two keynotes will open the conference at 9 a.m. on the day before, 11 May. Peter Lovatt, aka Dr Dance, used to be illiterate and is now regarded as the founder of modern dance studies. John Rogers is reinventing the automobile industry with Local Motors. At 11 a.m. there will be a presentation by Louis Rossetto, the founder of WIRED magazine who is now revolutionising the production of chocolate with TCHO.
The afternoon of the first day is dedicated to international agencies such as frog design, Crispin Porter + Bogusky, Jung von Matt and Scholz & Friends as well as best practice cases in the digital and creative economy. State Secretary Almuth Nehring-Venus (Senate Department for Economics, Technology and Women’s Issues) will present the Visual Effects Award at 5:30 p.m., and conductor Itay Talgam will then close the first day of the conference with another keynote. The Official next10 Party will be held that evening.
The second day of the conference will open with futurist and hacker Pablos Holman, co-developer of the world’s smallest PC. MP3 inventor Karlheinz Brandenburg will present a keynote at 1:30 p.m. on the topic of “How to be a Game Changer”. The next10 conference will end with the closing party, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Game changers break rules and redefine business models. They are innovative and dare to challenge, unencumbered by mass marketing and the mainstream. Companies change the rules of the game by banking on disruptive innovations for new products and services instead of settling for the continuous improvement of what already exists. With its many keynotes and presentations, the next10 conference will provide a deep insight into the thought processes of the world’s foremost innovators, and its workshops will offer practical suggestions for action. The focus is on the fundamental changes triggered by the Web and interactive consumers, the full extent of which is still not apparent. Ultimately, the Internet is not just replacing or supplementing existing media, it is redefining how individuals influence the economy, politics and society.
